The Police Department staff consists of 35 regular officers, two supernumerary officer, five civilian dispatchers, one administrative secretary, one full time records clerk and one Chaplain. The Police Department is proud to have been awarded national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Fairfax, VA.
The department philosophy is service to the community. We support DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), Police Explorers, and the Citizen Police Academy. The department uses a Juvenile Review Board that offers an alternative to criminal courts by referring youthful offenders meeting certain criteria to the Board for remediation.
The patrol division has a bike patrol unit and each patrol car is equipped with the Automated External Defibrillator. Each patrol officer is a medical response technician and all patrol sergeants are Emergency Medical Technicians.
The Police Department seeks citizens over the age of 18 to participate in the Citizen Police Academy. Information may be obtained by calling community relations number above. We are also seeking youths between the ages of 15-18 for involvement in our Police Explorer Program. Please contact Sergeant Mark Wozniak at 409-4275 if interested.
