Avon Police Department - Citizens Police Academy
The Avon Police Department is offering a Citizen's Police Academy starting April 2,2008 for residents who want to learn more about local law enforcement.
The 10-week program will take place at the Avon Police Department and will run from April 2,2008 to May 21,2008. The Academy will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., with two Saturday morning classes that will include a trip to the shooting range and a mock accident scene held in cooperation with the Avon Volunteer Fire Department.
Those attending will learn many aspects of the Avon Police Department, including Crime Scene Investigation, DWI Enforcement, the Commercial Truck Safety Inspector Program, and the Detective Division. In addition, class participants will learn about the many regional programs the Avon Police Department participates in, including Accident Reconstruction, Narcotics Enforcement, and the Emergency Services Team.
Class size is limited, and only those at least 18 years of age and residents or business owners in Avon are eligible.
