The Lower Farmington River and Salmon Brook Wild and Scenic Rivers Study Committee was established in 2006 by an Act of Congress.  The Study Committee comprises delegates and volunteers from the ten towns through which these streams flow. These individuals were appointed by the Avon Town Council to represent Avon on this committee.  The committee has met on a monthly basis since April of 2007 and is working on meeting the requirements for the designation of the Lower Farmington River and Salmon Brook as a Wild and Scenic River.

In order to learn more about the Committee's work and the benefits derived should that designation be achieved, please  view the Lower Farmington River and Salmon Brook Wild and Scenic Study website.
